Skin Care Treatment with Circle Medical

Did you know? Many common skin conditions can be treated by a Primary Care Provider.

This means that your treatment will usually be covered by insurance, saving you money. Plus, your provider will be able to take into account your full health picture and help get to the root cause of any issues that might be contributing to your condition.

Even without insurance, seeing a Primary Care Provider is usually far less expensive than seeing a dermatologist. And, if further treatment is necessary, your provider can refer you to an in-network dermatologist.

Appointment

Your provider will do a thorough review of your skin condition and symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle, and may order blood work to rule out any conditions that may be contributing to your condition. You will be able to submit photos to your provider during your appointment.

Plan

Once your provider has enough information, they will work with you to create a customized treatment plan which may include behavior changes, topical applications, or prescribed medications if determined to be medically appropriate.

Treatment

After you start your treatment plan, you can opt to have regular video check-ins with your provider to ensure the plan is working to help you effectively manage your symptoms, and that your lifestyle continues to improve. Speak to a provider today to get started!

"This service allowed me to be evaluated and seek a diagnosis that I had been meaning to for years. Having received a diagnosis that confirmed what I suspected has helped lead to improvements in my life, which I appreciate."

— Paul G.

"I love that I don’t have to leave my house. I also feel the provider was very thorough and questioned me about my health and answered any questions. I felt very comfortable talking with her and feel like I’m in great hands. Thank you!"

— Allisson N.

Frequently Asked Questions

Skincare appointments

What can I expect in first my appointment?

During your appointment, your provider will conduct a full evaluation of your skin concerns. If you have recently experienced skin changes, your provider will be able to help you diagnose the underlying causes and start you on a treatment that is right for you.

Do I need an in-person appointment for skin care evaluation?

Our approach to skin care management is to provide better access to high quality providers through video appointments and in-app chat, so you can get support whenever you need it.

Why shouldn't I just see a dermatologist?

At Circle Medical, our board certified primary care providers have been trained in a generalized approach to medicine and are comfortable treating a wide array of skin conditions, including acne, rashes, eczema, and psoriasis, to name a few. Also your Circle Medical primary care provider can also order blood work and help to treat any underlying conditions that may also be present. However, if your Circle Medical provider feels that a dermatologist would be helpful for your skin condition, they can provide a referral to a dermatologist to help make the process seamless.

How often do I need to have appointments?

Your specific appointment frequency depends on your individual care plan. If this is a new diagnosis for you, you may have more frequent appointments with your provider to allow room for modifications to your care plan based on what is working. Patients who have already been placed on an effective skin care regimen and are focused on maintenance typically see their providers less frequently; about once every 3-6 months. We encourage you to discuss appointment frequency with your provider during your initial appointment if you have questions.

If you are experiencing severe health concerns, please dial 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.

How long will it take to see results / improve my skin appearance and health?

Your provider will create a custom treatment plan for you based on your needs. Depending on your treatment plan and your specific underlying causes, the amount of time it takes to see results and improvements will vary.

How can I prepare for my first appointment?

Please make sure you’re in a quiet place where you feel comfortable talking with your healthcare provider. Also, to assist your provider in a telehealth skin exam, please make sure you are in an area with proper lighting and good Wifi. This will allow your provider to perform a proper skin evaluation.

Can my provider refer me to a skin specialist if needed?

Yes, all of our providers are board certified primary care providers who can not only evaluate your skin but also order blood work, place referrals, perform wellness exams, and assist with medical screenings as needed.

Do Circle Medical providers only treat skin?

No, all of our providers are board certified primary care providers who can not only evaluate your skin but also order blood work, place referrals, perform wellness exams, and assist with medical screenings as needed.

General

What if I need in-person testing or examinations?

If any in-person care is needed, such as bloodwork, vaccinations, or other testing, our providers are able to send the appropriate request to a nearby lab. Results will be integrated with our HIPAA-compliant mobile app so that patients have access to all of their medical records in one secure place.

What states do you operate in?

To see our list of currently available states, begin booking an appointment.

You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.

How long are the appointments?

The first intake appointment is 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments are 20 minutes each.

Billing

How do I know how much my specific appointment will cost?

We provide a cost estimate when you are booking your appointment. For those with insurance, your actual cost is determined after we submit the insurance claim for your appointment. Once we submit the claim, insurance companies will pay for a portion of the appointment and pass on any remaining cost to you. Once we know what this cost is, we will update you with an invoice within the app.

When do I get charged for my appointment?

For those with insurance, it typically takes 1-3 weeks for the insurance claim to be processed. Once processed, we’ll send you an invoice within the app with any remaining costs. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.

For those without insurance (or with out of network insurance), we will send you the invoice 1-2 days after your appointment is completed. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.

Insurance

What insurance do you accept?

We accept over 1,500+ insurance plans. We cover most of the major PPO insurance companies (payors) across the United States. The best way to confirm coverage of your insurance plan is to begin booking an appointment on our website or via our mobile app. During the booking process, you’ll be prompted to enter your insurance information for a real-time verification of your insurance plan.

What if I am having issues verifying my insurance plan coverage?

The best way to confirm your insurance plan coverage is to call the Member Services phone number on the back of your insurance card. If needed, you can reference our Tax ID#: 474883537 and our NPI: 1134596091. Once you are able to confirm your coverage and your primary care copay costs, you can use the in-app chat to message our team with the information. We’ll then follow up with confirmation.

What is the total cost of diagnosis and treatment?

Your per-appointment costs are set by your insurance plan. If the costs seem high, you may be on a high deductible health plan (HDHP). This means that you have an annual out-of-pocket amount that you must pay on healthcare in a given year before your insurance plan will cover more of your per-appointment costs.

If you are on an HDHP and have confirmed your insurance information in our mobile app, your remaining deductible for the year will be displayed on the “Book Appointment” page. Note that this amount may be outdated if you have had recent insurance claims processed.

And professionalism. I felt that in my two appointments I was treated with respect, not judged, and I was able to express my issues and thoughts to someone who was actually listening.

How common is it?

Acne is the 8th most common disease worldwide, with over 85% of people experiencing acne at some point in their lives.

Who's at risk?

While most common in teenagers, 50% of women and over 40% of men reported experiencing acne in and beyond their 20s.

What are common symptoms?

  • Psoriasis never goes away (it's not totally curable, but we can reduce the frequency, duration, and severity of symptoms)

Why Skin Care Matters

It's your largest organ

Skin makes up almost 15% of a person’s weight. It is the immune system’s first line of defense against infection, and interacts with nearly every other organ and system that works to keep us healthy.

Skin conditions can be a warning sign

Because of its key role in your body’s immune system, changes to your skin can often be an early indicator of undiagnosed health issues, where early diagnosis and treatment can have the greatest impact.

Healthy skin is a keystone of overall health

With countless interrelationships to your body’s other systems, changes to your skin can often be related to seasonal, chronic, or other complex conditions. By making skincare a part of your health plan, you are more likely to catch early symptoms and find effective treatments.
